Storage Options During Renovation
Renovation and remodeling can be messy work. It requires planning and organization to have everything sailing smoothly. And one of the things that need to be planned is storage space for items that need to be put away while work is being done. Less clutter means more working space for the contractor which translates to faster and more efficient work. Here are some ideas for storage spaces to help you better organize your home renovation.
1) Garage - The garage is great temporary storage area for some furnishings or appliances. If you are having a kitchen remodeled, it may be a good area to set-up the refrigerator and microwave. It may be a good time to likewise clean the garage of years of junk that you have always needed to throw away.
2) Shed - Like the garage, it can be a place where some of the things in the home that can hamper the renovation should be kept. It may be best to move tools and other equipment from the garage into the shed and give the garage more room as temporary storage. At the garage, things are easier to retrieve while work is still ongoing. With things closer to the house, it is also easier to put them back when the renovation is complete.
3) Basement - It may be a good time to gather all the things you no longer use regularly and store it in the basement too. Consider your renovation a good motivation to finally do that major cleaning you have always intended.
4) Garage Sale – A better option than keeping unused items in the basement is to either donate them or have a garage sale. Keeping things we no longer need adds to the clutter at home. The best thing may be to have other people get the chance to make use of them.
Take the opportunity to do some major cleaning in your home during a renovation. What better way to start of a new design for your home than by cleaning it.
